World's Largest Mountains Added to Google Maps

While Google Maps has invited a considerable amount of scrutiny lately—for the way mapping crews skimmed private information off of personal computers and handhelds as they traveled through neighborhoods under the auspices of snapping digital images—the extraordinary geographical service has reached a new plateau, or, summit, if you will, in virtual adventuring.

Google's new Maps update takes users up four of the world's tallest peaks: Everest Base Camp in the Himalayas (17,598 feet), Mount Elbrus in Russia (18,510 feet), Aconcagua in Argentina (22,841 feet) and the dormant Mount Kilimanjaro volcano in Tanzania (19,341 feet).
