RACINE COUNTY — State budget provisions approved Wednesday by the Legislature's Joint Finance Committee show lawmakers plan to invest more money into school choice vouchers.
Such vouchers, which already exist in Racine and Milwaukee, allow lower-income students to attend private schools using state-funded vouchers to pay tuition.
Under the budget, vouchers would expand statewide, including into western Racine County. The maximum amount a voucher is worth would also increase.
