Wall Street Drops in Trading

Stocks were lower in afternoon trading Wednesday as the government shutdown entered a second day with few signs of a resolution in sight.
A report showing fewer private job gains than expected didn't help.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 0.5% and the Standard & Poor's 500 index dropped 0.3%. The Nasdaq composite index dropped 0.3%.
