Writer's picture: OurStudioOurStudio

Two hikers died in a car accident Tuesday night just minutes after being rescued in Roque Bluff State Park in Maine, the Kennebec Journal reports.

Amy Stiner, 37, and Melissa Moyer, 38, apparently drove off a boat landing and sank during a downpour of rain, according to the Journal.

Moyer — who was five months pregnant—and Stiner had been lost in the park and were assisted to their car by an off-duty firefighter.
