This Year's Hurricane Season To Be Especially Active

If you think Hurricane Sandy provided a once-and-done event for the Jersey Shore, maybe you'll want to think again, a leading hurricane forecaster says in its annual outlook issued May 23.

The Atlantic Ocean could be in for an "extremely active year," according to National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration Climate Prediction Center.

In fact, the 2013 hurricane season is expected to be one of the most active of the current active era that began in 1995, the NOAA Climate Prediction Center says.

The six-month hurricane season begins June 1 and ends Nov. 1.
