Syrian Refugees in Lebanon Surpass 100,000

The number of Syrian refugees registered in Lebanon has surpassed 100,000, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees announced Tuesday.

As of Monday, the number of refugees registered in Lebanon reached 101,238, according to UNHCR chief spokesperson, Melissa Fleming. The figure includes 29,000 people still waiting to register.

Lebanon has become the third country to exceed the mark of 100,000 registered refugees, joining Turkey, with 101,834, and Jordan's 105,737. In Iraq, 42,661 have registered, and the UNHCR has recorded 6,815 refugees in North Africa, the majority living in Egypt.
