Students Turn Dance Into Protest Over "Grinding" Ban

MIDDLETOWN, R.I.—Administrators abruptly ended a homecoming dance at the high school on Saturday night when students upset about a new ban on sexual dancing called "grinding" began protesting and spewing profanities.

Parents were notified the dance was ending prematurely by Connect Ed, which automatically sends out telephone messages about urgent matters, according to Supt. Rosemarie Kraeger.
