St. Louis Alderwoman Wants Law Banning Saggy Pants

One alderwoman wants city-goers to keep their pants up.

Ward 19 Alderwoman Marlene Davis has proposed legislation that would prohibit people "in a public place wearing pants below the waist which exposes the skin or undergarments which is likely to cause affront or alarm."

The bill is set for a first reading on Friday morning.

Other area municipalities have instituted similar bans on sagging pants, including Collinsville. The measures have been controversial, with some civil rights groups saying they restrict personal expression.
