So Michelle Bachman, Steve King, and Louis Gohmert Walk into a Bar EGYPT…

Republicans Reps. Michelle Bachman, Steve King, and Louis Gohmert visited Egypt over the weekend and recorded this odd 15-minute (on the dot!) video extolling the current government for overthrowing the government of Mohammed Morsi. It's weird, wild stuff, especially when Gohmert starts talking about the law is "king"—except of course when you don't like the law.

As for General Sisi and Egypt's military leaders, Mr. Gohmert said they reminded him of Thomas Jefferson's declaration of "eternal hostility to every form of tyranny over the minds of men." "Stand strong, Egypt," he said. "Stand firm."

This video can only add to the confusion that most people (including those of us in the U.S.) must have when looking at American policy toward the Middle East.

We back Mubarak for 30+ years, drag our feet when he's going down, and then jump on the Arab Spring bandwagon. Until we don't like Morsi anymore (even still, vast majorities of Egyptians think U.S. support for Morsi was a bad thing). Years back, we made piece with Qadafi until we joined in a NATO strike to send him packing. We called Bashar al-Assad a "reformer" even after his troops starting firing on unarmed demonstrators in 2011; now his a thug and a "murderer."

Which tells you exactly nothing about how America might act.

Wasn't there supposed to be some kind of reset button going on somewhere?
