The tax man may have gone too far.
Sen. Mark Udall (D.-Col.) issued a sharply worded statement regarding the revelations that the Internal Revenue Service may be scouring the emails of American citizens in search of tax cheats.
The American Civil Liberties Union obtained 247 pages of previously unreleased documents this week that the group says "reveal that the IRS Criminal Tax Division has long taken the position that the IRS can read your emails without a warrant."
Critics like Udall say that practice would be a clear violation of the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
