Sen. Thune Says Deal on FAA Cuts Could Come Today

Senate leaders are working rapidly toward a legislative fix to the sequester-driven air traffic controller furloughs that are causing nationwide flight delays and prompting a flurry of media coverage.

Sen. John Thune of South Dakota, a member of GOP leadership, told reporters that he and Commerce Chairman Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) hope to negotiate a bill with the White House that would temporarily patch the rolling furloughs to 15,000 air traffic controllers, probably by letting the FAA shift capital funds into operations accounts.
