Polls suggest that most Americans believe that higher immigration results in higher crime rates. After all, good old-fashioned "root causes" sociology would suggest that since immigrants are more likely to be male, poor, younger, less educated and live in cities, they should be more prone to crime and antisocial behavior. Reason Science Correspondent Ronald Bailey reports the findings of a new study that compares immigrant and native-born antisocial behavior, and the natives don't look so good.
