Price Discrimination

Assurant Health has agreed to pay $1.7 million to customers the Montana insurance commissioner's office says the company overcharged for health insurance. The state says that Assurant was providing discounts to people with less than $500 in claims the previous year and who filled out a survey. In effect, say regulators, the company was charging people in poor health more for insurance, which violates state law.
