Philippine Typhoon Death Toll Up to 4,900

Two weeks after one of the strongest storms ever to make landfall wiped out entire villages, officials in the Philippines have raised the death toll to more than 4,900, with more than 1,500 injured.

Officials at the national Civil Defense office said Friday that the death count is likely to increase as more reports are received from people involved in the rescue and retrieval operations in the areas devastated by Typhoon Haiyan.
