Opium Production in Afghanistan at Record High

Opium poppy cultivation and production in Afghanistan have reached a record level, according to a U.N.-Afghan government joint report.

Opium poppy cultivation in Afghanistan rose 36 percent in 2013, a record high, says the 2013 Afghanistan Opium Survey released on Wednesday in Kabul by the Ministry of Counter Narcotics and UNODC.
