NJ Lawmakers To Introduce Bill Requiring School Boards To Approve School Closures

TRENTON — Prompted by Newark Superintendent Cami Anderson's wide-spreadreorganization of the city's schools, lawmakers and activists will gather in Trenton Thursday to support a new bill that would require local boards of education to approve any proposed school closing.

Sen. Ronald Rice, (D-Essex) and Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman are the primary sponsors of the Stop Forced Public School Closures Act, to be introduced shortly.
