New Jersey Considering Bill to Keep Suspect Booking Photos Confidential

Writer: OurStudioOurStudio

New Jersey lawmakers plan to vote on legislation to make police booking photos of suspects confidential — a bill that's opposed by the group that represents 20 daily newspapers and other media outlets serving the state.

The bill, A-3906, would make mug shots off-limits unless there is a conviction. New Jersey Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver, a Democrat from Essex, N.J., has scheduled it for a vote Thursday. The proposal has yet to be taken up in the Senate.
