Nearly $28 million in state and federal funds has been designated to help Mississippians affected by Hurricane Isaac, which struck the Gulf Coast and other parts of the state just over two months ago.

As of today, more than 6,400 households have received FEMA grants for housing and property losses, according to a Mississippi Emergency Management Agency press release.

More than $13 million will cover housing grants, including short-term rental assistance, home repair or replacement costs.
