McAuliffe Takes Lead in Polls for Virginia Governor

Writer's picture: OurStudioOurStudio

New poll results giving Democrat Terry McAuliffe a modest edge in Virginia's gubernatorial race reverse numbers from late March showing Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli with a slim lead and differ from another recent poll that had the Republican ahead.

Quinnipiac University data released Thursday indicates 43 percent of registered voters surveyed would choose McAuliffe for governor if the election were held now, compared to 38 percent who favor Cuccinelli.

That 5-point spread is outside the poll's 2.7 percent margin of error and its findings are based on live telephone interviews with 1,286 registered voters conducted May 8-13.
