The Libyan armed forces chief of staff on Wednesday declared an end to days of combat operations against a city accused of harbouring loyalists to the Gaddafi regime.
Maj Gen Yousef Mangoush, speaking at a press conference, announced the end of operations after pro-government militias claimed control of the city of Bani Walid following a week of fighting that left at least two dozen dead, turned thousands of families out of their homes and sparked a political crisis.
