A federal jury in California reached a partial verdict Tuesday in the prosecution of a former Guatemalan soldier accused of lying on his U.S. citizenship application about his alleged role in an army-led massacre there three decades ago.

The jury informed the court it had decided one count but had not answered all questions related to a second count. The panel was sent back to the jury room to resume deliberations.
