Islamists Protesting in Egypt Ahead of Morsi's Trial

CAIRO (AP)—Islamist supporters of Egypt's ousted President Mohammed Morsi are holding new protests around the country, days ahead of his trial.

Pro-Morsi protesters held rallies Friday, some numbering several thousand, in several locations in Cairo and in other cities. They chanted slogans denouncing the trial as "fake" and vowing, "Stay strong, Mr. President, we are behind you with a million martyrs."

In Egypt's second-largest city, Alexandria, police fired tear gas to break up clashes between Morsi supporters and opponents.
