Interpol Frets Over 3D-Printed Guns

The rise of technologies like 3D printing is posing ever more complex threats to law enforcement agencies as the lines between the digital and real worlds blur, according to Interpol.

The body's secretary general, Ronald Noble, said that organisations dealing with the threats posed by criminals will have to equip themselves for new and ever-evolving challenges.

"Welcome to the world, version 3.0. A world providing unbelievable opportunities to mankind, but also formidable challenges to those entrusted with making it a safer place," he said.

As an example of this he pointed to a blueprint for a 3D printed gun that criminals could use to "print" a weapon that would be untraceable.
