CRETE, Neb. | A southeastern Nebraska high school faces complaints that it allowed a man charged with sexually assaulting a student to later chaperone a field trip.
The parents of the 14-year-old Crete High School student have complained to the Nebraska Department of Education, the Lincoln Journal Star reported. On Friday, the Nebraska chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union sent a letter to school officials demanding changes.
The letter says Chad Eggebraaten, 52, of Crete, chaperoned a school science field trip on Oct. 2, even though school Principal Tim Conway was aware that Eggebraaten had been charged last spring with first-degree sexual assault of a child.
