Google Confirms FTC Conducting Antitrust Review of Waze Purchase

Google has confirmed that the Federal Trade Commission is carrying out an antitrust review of its $1.1 billion purchase of Waze, The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday. The online search specialist acquired Israel-based mapping software developer Waze earlier in June. The deal has come under criticism as potentially restricting consumer choice in the mapping market.
