Three employees of the U.S. Postal Service in New York City have been charged with using the post office's Operation Santa program to enrich themselves. Under that program, the post office puts letters to Santa from needy children in an area where customers can "adopt" them and buy Christmas presents that the post office delivers to the children. But prosecutors say the three forged letters and when people brought in presents for those non-existent children, they kept them. Two of the three sometimes skipped forging the letters and just replaced the addresses of children with their own.
