Ga. School Officials Get Prison for Racketeering Scheme

Prosecutors say the former chief operating officer of a county school district in Georgia, her ex-husband and the district's ex-superintendent have been sentenced in a racketeering and theft scheme.

Officials said Monday that ex-DeKalb County Schools COO Patricia Reid, her husband, Tony Pope, and ex-superintendent Crawford Lewis were convicted of redirecting more than $1.4 million in contracts to Pope's architectural firm while Lewis was superintendent.

District Attorney spokesman Erik Burton says Reid has been sentenced to 15 years and Pope has been sentenced to eight years
