The soldier on trial for the 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood told mental health professionals after the attack that he "would still be a martyr" if convicted and executed by the government.
The remarks made by Maj. Nidal Hasan in 2010 are being made public at a time when his standby defense attorneys are insisting he's angling for a death sentence.
Hasan is representing himself as he faces charges for the attack that killed 13 people.
