Former Tenn. Police Chief Accused of Stealing City Property

The former police chief of McKenzie has been indicted by the Weakley County grand jury on one count of theft and one count of official misconduct.

Bobby Pate, 64, of McKenzie, was arrested on Tuesday after being indicted on Monday, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

In January 2013, the 24th Judicial District Attorney General requested that the TBI investigate allegations of theft of property from the McKenzie Police Department. As part of the investigation, the TBI searched Pate's property and recovered the missing city property that included a John Deere Tractor, two street sweepers, a portable trestle hoist and two laptop computers, according to the TBI.
