Florida School Chiefs Want Fewer Rules

54 rules are up to be cut in Fla.

Less red tape and regulations could mean more time for teaching, say Florida's school superintendents. Gov. Rick Scott agrees.

On Monday a list of specific recommendations on ways to cut through red tape and regulations was released, the work of a committee of seven superintendents appointed by Scott.

"I really believe the governor was sincere (about cutting regulations that didn't add value to the classroom)," said St. Johns County School Superintendent Joe Joyner, who was on the committee.
