New York Times Site Disruption Almost Resolved

Nearly 24 hours after it first went down, The New York Times website continues to suffer from the disruption caused by the Syrian Electronic Army, a pro-Assad hacking group that has targeted several media outlets in recent months.

The hack, which the Times described as "a malicious external attack," shut down the Times website for most users early Tuesday afternoon; as of 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, the site was inaccessible for many users. The Times has continued to publish stories on its company website, nytco.com.

Eileen Murphy, a Times spokesperson, said there was "no real update" today but said the situation was "close to being fully resolved."
