Detroit Council Clears Plan to Sue Blighted Property Owners

City Council on Tuesday approved a measure giving the Detroit Land Bank authority to sue owners of blighted properties in a program meant to speed up repair or forfeiture of abandoned homes.

The effort is part of Mayor Mike Duggan's plan to tackle blight through the city's newly established Neighborhoods Department and a reformed Detroit Land Bank.
