Court Denies Approval of $760 Million NFL Concussions Settlement

Is $760 million a sufficient amount money to compensate retired National Football League (NFL) players, their authorized representatives and close family members based on claims made in hundreds of lawsuits concerning harm sustained due to concussions and other head-related injuries sustained on the field of play? Yesterday, a group of players adamantly opposed the number and more specifically admonished the proposed $760 million settlement as one that "provides dissimilar treatment to persons with similar claims."

Today, Judge Anita B. Brody, who is charged with presiding over the multi-district litigation combining the plethora of plaintiffs into one case (for the purpose of speeding up the initial phases of similar-in-kind lawsuits) expressed a similar concern.
