Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) on Thursday said he opposed President Obama's pick to take over the Internal Revenue Service, putting a dent in hopes of adjourning the Senate Thursday.
McConnell said he would prevent a quick confirmation of John Koskinen as IRS commissioner, a decision that could keep the Senate working this weekend if Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) carries through with his threats.
"They just expect the elected representatives of the people to roll over and rubber stamp a new presidential nominee to head the IRS," McConnell said. "They want Congress to forget what happened too, and just move on.
