The German government is considering a ban on all cash transactions of more than 5,000 euros. Deputy finance minister Michael Meister says the move is needed to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism. He says the government would like to see a European Union-wide limit on cash transactions but is prepared to act unilaterally.
