The Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the student government at Emporia State University in Kansas called for impeaching Michaela Todd, the student government's vice president, for language she used endorsing Republican Kris Kobach for governor. Todd wrote on her Facebook page that Kobach would "put Kansans first, not illegal aliens." Some students said the term "illegal aliens" is offensive. The Diversity and Inclusion Committee dropped its plans to impeach Todd after members of the student government met with an attorney. But the school's student newspaper reports that meeting was not announced in advance, a violation of the state's open meetings law.
