Boston Red Sox Win First World Series Game to End With Pick-off

Writer's picture: OurStudioOurStudio

The Red Sox entered the bottom of the ninth inning of Sunday night's World Series Game 3 with a 4-2 lead over the Cardinals and dominant closer Koji Uehara taking the mound. But St. Louis threatened when Allen Craig singled to bring the tying run to the plate with one out.

Kolten Wong pinch-ran for the hobbled Craig, then Matt Carpenter popped out to second for the second out of the inning. The ever-dangerous Carlos Beltran came to the plate next, but wound up staying there.
