Angry Birds vs. Wacko Birds, Round 2: Cruz and McCain

Over the weekend, we noted the vituperation spewed by what might be called the "Angry Bird" faction of the Republican party (Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham) toward what they consider the "Wacko Bird" faction (in McCain's term). McCain said:

"They were elected, nobody believes that there was a corrupt election, anything else,"McCain said. "But I also think that when, you know, it's always the wacko birds on right and left that get the media megaphone." Asked to clarify, McCain said he was referencing "Rand Paul, Cruz, Amash, whoever."

Rand Paul responded by professing his respect for McCain and Amash tweeted back snarkily about McCain's dinner with Barack Obama the night of Paul's epic filibuster. Now Ted Cruz tells The Washington Examiner's Byron York:

"Some senators may choose to hurl insults and personal attacks," says new Republican Sen. Ted Cruz. "That's their prerogative. I have no intention of reciprocating."

As Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit observes, "TED CRUZ POLITELY INDICATES that he doesn't take John McCain's attacks seriously. That's got to hurt."
