Air India Continues Flying Dreamliners

Despite a worldwide ban on flying Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, Air India (AI) flew four out of its six aircraft into Mumbai from airports like Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore in the last few weeks.

These ferry flights were, however, operated with no fare-paying passengers on board. "Another aircraft may be flown into the city in the coming days. With that all the six AI Dreamliners will be in Mumbai," said an aviation source. Only one Boeing 787 was in Mumbai when the federal aviation administration, the US aviation regulator, imposed a blanket ban on flying the aircraft on January 16. A day before, Japan grounded its fleet of Dreamliners after two of its major airlines faced technical problems with the aircraft.
