Afghanistan, Pakistan Agree to Timeline to End War

KABUL—The Afghan and Pakistani leaders on Monday agreed to seek a six-month timeline to reach a peace settlement with the Taliban, the first concrete target set for the long-sputtering reconciliation process.

The announcement, made after talks hosted in Britain by Prime Minister David Cameron, is the latest effort in an international push to end the Afghan war.

The talks between Mr. Cameron, Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, follow December meetings in France between the Taliban and top Afghan politicians. Those were the first talks conducted by sanctioned representatives of both sides.
